day 254 - public rest day

i suppose this only works in the UK. it has been too often that i had to check these days out. i head out and almost everything was affected, public transport’s pricing, banks’ not opening etc. stated that these are the days when the law requires that banks be closed. heard that those in essential services (utilities, fire, ambulance, police, health-care, public transport workers) usually receive extra pay for working on these days. well, wiki says it also works in india/US and ireland too. its fun to have bank holidays here and then, though. i just think that people are too pampered by the law/government here. malaysians are much more hardworking in terms of lifestyle.
